Generation & Export Tariff
Get paid for the electricity you generate
How it works
FIT payments are made quarterly for the electricity your installation has generated and exported. Payments are made based on the meter reading you submit to your energy supplier.
FIT payments are made by your energy supplier from the date you become eligible for the scheme and are guaranteed for the period of the tariff (up to 20 years).
Feed-In Tariff rates
This is a fixed rate for the total amount of electricity you produce. Tariff rates are adjusted annually, in line the Retail Prices Index (RPI).
The current rate for new installations is 3.69p per kWh
The export tariff - selling surplus energy
As well as the generation tariff, you can also sell any extra units you don’t use back to your electricity supplier. This is called an ‘export tariff’. You can sell back half of the units of electricity you generate.
The current rate for new installations is 4.91p per kWh
Energy bill savings
The typical saving is around 35% but this can be increased up to about 80% by adding a battery storage system or by using any surplus energy to heat your water via an immersion controller.
The amount you save will vary depending how much of the electricity you use on site. If you use half of the electric generated you will save around £245 on your current bill.
